Save Time & Money with Preventative Maintenance

Getting Ahead of Known Issues

No one likes an unexpected vehicle expense, especially since these repairs are costly. Knowing the existing issues is not enough to stay ahead of the possible problems that can occur with vehicle ownership. Whether your Volvo is new or new to you, save yourself the headache with a scheduled preventative maintenance plan.

Scheduled Preventative Maintenance

Consider a scheduled preventative maintenance plan as an investment in your relationship with your Volvo. Every manufacturer has a suggested preventative maintenance plan, and Volvo is no different.

Newer Models with Service Message Option

In newer Volvo models, they will inform you about upcoming and overdue maintenance requirements. These messages will be displayed in the text window on the instrumental panel inside your vehicle or through the Volvo Cars app. Either way, you will see one of three messages:

  • “Book time for maintenance,” when the maintenance interval is close
  • “Time for maintenance,” when maintenance is required, and
  • “Maintenance overdue,” when required maintenance is overdue.

Older Models

If you have an older model, you can always consult your owner’s manual for the recommendations to start, but depending on your vehicle’s age, you may want to search the internet. Maintenance technology and supplies have changed as quickly as the internal technology that runs modern models. Volvo suggests that all vehicles above 150,000 miles consult their local authorized repair shop for service intervals.

Basic Service and Maintenance Requirements

Volvo has developed a comprehensive maintenance schedule for your vehicle. Determination of what to expect, however, primarily depends on accumulated mileage; both driving conditions and your driving habits can further impact the need for maintenance. To ensure the vehicle’s best performance, Volvo recommends maintenance services be based on both times since the last service and mileage. At a minimum, your responsibility for maintenance begins after 10,000 miles or annually, depending on which comes first.
